The Resilience & Mental Health in Today’s World event brings a discussion on how we maintain and continually aim to strengthen our mental health and resilience in the face of challenges from recent events and in modern times.

1girl has been mentoring and facilitating a dynamic and culturally-conscious curriculum of critical thinking, creative problem solving, public speaking, goal setting, and conflict resolution – 1 girl at a time.


A panel of amazing guest speakers will share their advice and unique perspectives on mental health and wellness, and especially how it impacts women and girls of all ages and in all facets of life.

We are beyond excited for our panel of expert speakers:


Sherrie Sledge-Thomas

Sherrice Sledge-Thomas is the VP of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access (DEIA) at The Columbus Chamber of Commerce where she’s focused on equipping Chamber members to take their DEIA practices to the next level. As a first-generation college graduate, Sherrice holds a Master of Business Administration with a focus in Organizational Leadership and Management from Franklin University and a Bachelor of Arts degree with a focus in Women’s Studies from The Ohio State University. She’s also published two books, The Balance Finder and Hot Like Fire. Sherrice resides in Groveport with her husband Frederick and twin sons, David and Joseph AKA The Wonder Twins. Her eldest son has a family of his own, making Sherrice the proud grandmother of five.

Yahaira Rose, MPS, CNP

Yahaira Rose, MPS is the Founder of Proyecto Mariposas, a non-profit organization operating in Ohio since 2011. Their mission is to empower Latina girls and mothers to live a life that is brave and strong. Yahaira has a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Education from The Ohio State University, a Master’s Degree in Professional Studies with a specialty in Leadership Development from the University of Denver. Yahaira has over 20 years of experience in Leadership Development Programs. She is the director of the Martin de Porres Center since 2015. She lives in Westerville with her husband and two beagles.

Annette Dominguez

Annette Dominguez is co-founder of S.E.E.D. HOPE LLC. and co-author of the recently released children’s book How Mommy Found Her Way Home, a book that focuses on the impact of incarceration on children and families. Mrs. Dominguez is the former director of the Tapestry Therapeutic Community (TC) located within the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville Ohio. Mrs. Dominguez became the Programming Director for We Amplify Voices(WAV) in August of 2021 where she is responsible for the creation and implementation of WAV workshops, leading and providing oversight of all programming sessions and facilitators.
